A snake spirit animal is one that guides people to let go of the past or old things you no longer need. Snakes shed their skin once it is no longer needed symbolizing shedding of ones limitations and illusions. This action is seen as a transformation of the snake and a rebirth.  As a spirit animal, a snake is telling you to shed your beliefs that you have outgrown and explore new ones. Snakes are also linked with fertility and sexuality.  This is depicted in many cultures such as tempting Eve in the Garden of Eden, the Celtic fertility god Cernunnos, and the Indian Goddess Vinata.
